Pictures of sentence starters for children
Pictures are always a good idea, no matter if you're looking to inspire writing in middle school or kindergarten.
It's obvious that children love to draw and make pictures. They can be used for sentence starters and conversation. For students who are scared or shy of writing, a picture or drawing can help them express themselves.
Finding the right image for your lesson plan is key. If you are looking to teach dialog writing, a picture of people speaking would work well. How to encourage children to write using sentence starters
Helping children to write starts with getting them excited about writing. This can be done by giving your child a topic they are interested in and asking them their opinions.
If you want to ask your children what their favorite sport is, for example, they can tell you. After they have a clear idea of their starting sentence, it is time to get started with the actual writing.
- Begin by giving them a sentence or two to introduce the topic.
- Next, ask them to come up with subordinate clauses. This shows how the topic sentence relates.
